ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a multicultural artist/designer/illustrator born in Thailand and now active in Japan. I am also the cheerleader (founder) of a small non-profit art community, ArtGumiDAO. I live to inspire the world to become more positive and kind through my art.
I believe that when our hearts are positively soften, we tend to lower our guards, open up to kindness, and become more acceptant of each other. My strategy in art is not to make people feel in awe with the greatness of art or artist, but to create POPTIMISTIC KAWAII pieces which aim to make the audience feel the spark of “heart throb” through experiencing the art over time.
With my background in architectural / industrial / product / graphic / interactive designs, my approach to creating artworks are more of the design process than the practice of fine artist. I normally take 60% of the time to do research and analysis, then another 40% to create the piece which communicates with the audience. To achieve the purpose, I constantly observe and explore the cause and effect of human psychology through new technologies and mediums. Sometimes the process can be very experimental and improvisational that the result may shifted from what I originally planned. But I always take them as good surprises, good leaning, good journey.
Before turning digital artist, I commercially worked as a doll artist, a watercolour/acrylic painter, a children’s book writer, an illustrator, and a designer. My previous works ranges from packaging designs, mural painting and interior designs for cafes, illustration for kindergarten bus and more. For personal art experiment, I created an analog interactive art technique which turn the meaning of the art pieces from negative to positive by viewing through a red heart-shape filter as the concept goes "One can only see clearly with the heart”.
Learning about decentralisation philosophy and blockchain technology makes me become fascinated with how new technologies have strong effects on human minds, behaviours, social protocols, and cultures. This results in my attempts to create artworks which blur the line between art & tech. My recent personal art projects include, introducing AR technology to traditional art audiences with no background in AR, creating art QR-code on the fine line which both human & machine can co-share and co-interpret the meaning of the art pieces in their own ways. I recently work as creative duo unit, Ringo (Rinna & Dango), with my engineer partner. Together we are creating interactive art which remind audiences to look for positive things hidden in everyday life.
Looking at my over all body of works, my art style medium, technique, and technology involved may evolve over time. People might not recognise myself and my art. But on one fine day, if those who have ever experienced my art could recall their positive memories associated with it and feel fluffy with their hearts ready to open up, then I have achieved my purpose of my life as an artist.
